2025 National Forum on Overdose Fatality Review
Tribal Partnership Opportunities
We invite you to attend the 2025 National Forum on Overdose Fatality Review three-part virtual post-forum series—Turning the Tide: Bringing Overdose Fatality Review to Tribal Communities.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Each session in this series is designed for different, but overlapping audiences:
Part 1 is intended for state and local OFR teams, public health officials, law enforcement, behavioral health providers, social service agencies, policymakers, and other multidisciplinary stakeholders who are looking to establish or enhance existing relationships with Tribal communities to enhance overdose prevention efforts. It is particularly relevant for established or developing OFRs who want to ensure their processes align with Tribal sovereignty and governance.
Part 2 will serve as an opportunity to introduce the fundamentals of OFR in an OFR 101 format, as well as findings from the 2024 National Forum sessions on Tribal perspectives and partnerships. This session is intended for individuals who participate in, lead, support, or are interested in establishing an OFR, to include working in or alongside Tribal communities. It is particularly relevant for:
- Leaders and practitioners from Tribal communities interested in establishing OFR as part of their overdose prevention efforts.
- Communities with established OFRs that seek to integrate Tribal communities into their OFRs.
Part 3 is a more in-depth, interactive workshop for those looking to explore the implementation of OFRs in Tribal communities by drafting a Tribal resolution. There are limited seats available.
Attendees may choose to participate in Part 1, Part 2, or both; however, participation in Part 2 is required for those who wish to attend Part 3.
HOSTED BY:
The Bureau of Justice Assistance’s (BJA) Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Use Program’s (COSSUP) Overdose Fatality Review (OFR) Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Program at the Institute for Intergovernmental Research (IIR), and the National Criminal Justice Training Center (NCJTC) of Fox Valley Technical College.
